Now that you're back in school, you will be getting assignments to work on at home. If you ever feel like you're stuck working through one of them, the post below can help you move forward.

How to Proceed When You're Stuck on Homework

  1. First, set goals for your homework sessions, so you have the motivation and direction to keep working.
  2. Being distracted and interrupted can pull your focus away from your tasks. Create a study space where you can concentrate on completing your homework effectively.
  3. It's imperative that you understand the instructions you're given, so you can move forward and complete your homework in an effective manner.
  4. If you're overwhelmed with your assignments, try starting out easy. Working on the easier tasks first will help you get the ball rolling.
  5. If you're working on more complicated assignments, break them down, so you can work through the smaller, more doable chunks easily.
  6. Don't forget to actually work on your assignments. After all, your homework is meant to help you develop your academic skills fully.
  7. Of course, you can turn to your notes. Read through them so you can have the guidance you require to finish your homework.
  8. If you're stuck and can't move forward, review the work you already did. This will allow you to spot mistakes and carry on.
  9. Even if you're feeling overwhelmed or unmotivated, don't cheat. Make an effort; even if you make mistakes, you will be learning.
  10. If you've been working nonstop for a long time, take breaks. This will help your brain relax and avoid tunnel vision.
  11. Lastly, ask for help from your peers, teachers, family members, and tutors. They will be able to guide you so you can complete your work.
