With back-to-school just around the corner, parents wonder what the best ways to prepare their child for a new school year are; let’s talk about some of them.

Set a Sleep Routine

Even though many children are excited to go back to school, see their friends, and start a new school year, many might not be as ready to wake up early. A way you can help them adjust from summer break hours to back-to-school hours is to start going to bed earlier and waking up early the week before school starts. This way, their internal clock will regulate and get used to normal hours again.

Prepare School Clothes

Nothing is worse than rushing around on the first day of school trying to decide what to wear, or even worse, not having clean school clothes or uniforms. Prevent this by planning and making sure your child has clean clothes for the first week of school. Also, summer is usually a time when children have growth spurts, so make sure everything fits correctly, and if not, take advantage of the many back-to-school sales that retailers typically have this time of year.

Homework and Expectations

Depending on what grade your child is going into, it’s essential to talk about homework and expectations sooner rather than later. If your child is older, make sure they know what to expect in terms of homework, deadlines, and responsibilities in school, and ensure they have all the tools they need to have a successful school year!
