It’s commonly known that it’s essential to have a healthy mind and body. That’s why having an active mind is necessary to keep your children healthy. Here are a few ideas you can put into motion to encourage this.

Solve Puzzles as a Family

Puzzles are a great way to stimulate the mind and keep it active. When you say puzzles, people usually think of tabletop ones. Still, things like crossword puzzles and sudoku are also great examples of puzzles that can keep your children entertained and help them keep an active mind. Try a variety of puzzles until you find the one that is more interesting for your child to keep them engaged.

Practice Reading for Fun

Often, reading can feel like a chore for your child. But reading can be a great way to explore different points of view and keep the mind active. Family reading time is a great way to encourage your child to pick up a book and start reading for fun, instead of only for school. Reading as a family helps you model the behavior you want your child to practice and encourages them to read more.

Exercise is another way to keep your child’s mind healthy. It might seem like exercise is all about the body, but in reality, learning new skills helps stimulate the mind and helps in regulating stress, and increase levels of serotonin and dopamine in the brain, which helps with the regulation of mental health. Being involved in sports and fitness classes can help your child build healthy habits in the long run, leading them to an active and healthy life.

Stretch-n-Grow in Winston-Salem, NC, can help your child keep an active mind and enhance their development. Call today at (336) 287-1193 to learn more benefits of our children’s fitness programs.
