When it comes to teaching children about goal setting, the best thing to do is to teach them through simple and fun activities. From school to their personal life, goal setting and being persistent can make a big difference for your child’s future and help them achieve whatever they put their mind to. Learn some tips on how to teach your child about goal setting in this post by Stretch-n-Grow in Winston/Salem, NC.

Create a Vision Board

Besides it being a fun and creative activity, making vision boards allows children to put their ideas on writing and materialize what they feel and want. Sit down with your child and talk about what their goals are. Then, create a vision board with pictures, drawings, and phrases that will serve as a constant reminder for your child of what they want to achieve.

Break down Their Big Goal into Parts

Having a big goal can get a bit overwhelming from time to time for children. Also, by not understanding what it takes or what they need to do to achieve that goal, your child can get discouraged. Help them break their goal into smaller and more manageable steps. This can help them feel like they are achieving something little every day and know they are getting closer to the end goal.

What about Getting the Family Involved?

Get your family together and come up with a few shared goals. They can be long-time or short-time goals. Write them down and place the list where everyone can see it. Setting goals as a family is an excellent way for your child to get excited and learn about the importance of working with others to achieve a desired common outcome. Maybe Dad needs to get in better shape? Why not exercise as a family and get everybody to be healthy!

Children’s Exercise Programs

Enrolling your child in children’s exercise programs is another great way of teaching them about the importance of working as a team to achieve their goals.
