Indoor Children´s Exercise Activity

Winter can be a lot of fun but the weather during this time may not allow children to get out and play as much. This does not mean that they cannot play and get their exercise, it just means that it is the perfect time to try new and fun activities that helps them keep moving, even when they need to stay indoors. At Stretch and Grow in Winston/Salem we want to share a creative indoor activity that you and your child might enjoy.

Fun Indoor Snowball Fight

You  can play this game with a minimum of two players and as many as you like or as many as your space will permit. First, make two buckets of ¨snow balls¨ with balls of tissue or toilet paper. Try to avoid using regular paper because the children may get really into the ¨snow¨ fight, since regular paper is heavier it tends to hit harder. Next, make two teams, it could be the parents against the children or one adult and a child against another adult and child, it doesn´t matter, you decide how you want them to team up. Designate an area for the snowball fight and you can even make obstacles or just use two sofas, one for each team´s fort. They may hide behind the fort or sofa but they have to keep moving and not just stay hidden behind it. The targets are the opposing teammates, and the idea is to hit the targets with the tissue snowballs, as many times before running out of snowballs. The snowballs that do not hit the target directly do not count as a ¨hit,¨ the team that hits the most targets by the time they both use up the ¨snowballs¨ in the bucket, wins.
