It can be challenging at times to get children interested in healthy habits. Here is where modeling healthy habits comes in. Keep reading for some suggestions on how to model good habits for your children.

4 Ways to Model Healthy Habits

  1. Eating well is an integral part of creating healthy habits. Food is the fuel our body uses for our everyday activities; having balanced meals is so important. An easy way to make sure your child is eating from every food group is to have a colorful plate with mixed veggies and meats.
  2. Drinking more water is another good way to show children the importance of staying hydrated. For children, water can be boring, but adding some fruit like berries or lemon to their water can entice them to drink more.
  3. Prioritizing your workouts is another way to show children that exercising is essential. Constantly putting other things like work or errands before your workout routine could send the message that exercise isn’t that important.
  4. Making exercise fun can help make it more approachable for your children. Remember that any movement is good movement, so instead of hitting the gym every day, you could throw a ball around together, race around the park, or go rollerskating together.
