Create Habits That Encourage Children´s Fitness

The habits that a child learns during the first years are the ones that will stick better and longer. Young children need to learn the importance of caring for their health and carrying out positive actions for their bodies. If they learn this as children they will be more likely to continue to respect and properly care for their health as they grow older. Today, at Stretch and Grow Winston we want to share three quick ways to instill healthy exercise habits in your child.

3 Simple Ways to Instill Healthy Exercise Habits for Your Child

  • Make time for regular physical activities together. We have heard it many times before; children learn by example, they will always try to imitate what they see. Carrying out fun exercise activities is a great way to bond and get healthier together. It doesn´t have to be strenuous hard-core exercise, even small actions such as riding the bike together or going out for a daily walk or even playing an active game like freeze tag are great ways to teach your child to enjoy physical activity.
  • Visit the jungle gym at a park. For those days that you don´t feel like going out for a bike ride, take them to a park and let them play on the slides, swings, and monkey bars. There have been studies that prove that playing in the jungle gym and monkey bars can actually improve cognitive thinking.
  • Sign them up for a children's fitness class.
